This weekend I fulfilled a dream of seeing the Indigo Girls in concert. I doubted that this dream would ever be actualized because the only other people I know who are fans of them are my sister and brother-in-law (they first met at an Indigo Girls show, he had to convince her of his heterosexuality).
We saw them Friday night in Wilmington, Delaware and then Saturday night in Peekskill, New York. I can’t even begin to explain how wonderful the shows were. I’m not religious, but I’d venture to say that it was a spiritual experience. Both nights they had me entranced.
And my friends, it’s time that I confess that I have a girl crush (Hi, Jason). My new goal for the summer is to kidnap Amy Ray (the lady on the left of the above picture with all the arrows pointing to her) from Atlanta and bring her back to California with me where we can wed. And at night, she will happily serenade me with her sweet, sweet alto voice as we sit and watch lightening bugs on the front porch.
Seriously, though, these girls are amazing and I don’t think any band has ever inspired me so much. If you haven’t heard them before, some of my favorite songs are “Cordova,” “Devotion,” “Let it Ring,” and “Shame on You.” Check them out. So, so good and such powerful messages of peace.

Ah juliet when we made love you used to cry. You said I love you like the stars above, gonna love you till I die. Theres a place for us, I you know this song… Now when you gonna realize, it was just that the time was wrong.
